Preventing Harm

Minimising the harm that can be caused by using illegal drugs

Use of illegal drugs causes problems in our communities. Drug addiction causes young people to drop out of school; it makes parents lose interest in their children. It pushes people into lives of crime and poverty, destroys ambition and ruins lives.

Drugs dealing brings crimes and violence to otherwise peaceful communities, and makes people feel helpless in their own home towns

Drugs, Protecting Families and Communities (2008)

These pages are designed to provide information and support for people that may be affected by their own drug misuse, someone else’s misuse or for anyone who may want to know more.

We think it is important that all people in Sandwell are able to access information and services that may be useful to them. These pages will provide information about some of the harms that can be caused by abusing drugs and where further information and support can be found.
